Red Barn Perennials and Trim Tree Nursery History Trim Tree Nursery was founded in 1947 by the Trimarchi family in a small valley in Armstrong Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Indiana County is known as the 'Christmas Tree Capital of the World' and the nursery was originally a Christmas tree seedling farm, with some acreage planted with trees for wholesale. Trim Tree was incorporated into Valley Conservation Land & Tree Company in 1963 and continued wholesaling Christmas trees through the 1970's. In 1988 Trim Tree resumed operations with the planting of 10 acres of deciduous trees and the wholesale production of our first crop of Fall chrysanthemums under the direction of new president John Cuccaro. Over the next four years the growing techniques for the mums were refined and a line of container grown perennials was gradually added. The success of the fall mums and perennials allowed Trim Tree to exit the tree business in 1997 to concentrate solely on growing the finest quality perennials ideally suited to the Western Pennsylvania region. With the further development and production of the finest perennials, came the creation of Red Barn Perennials. Carrying a line of quality perennials new to the gardening world to the wholesale and landscaper markets.
