| Why you need this plant: Bright yellow single-petal flowers 1 1/2" in diameter, with a red eye highlight this drought resistant perennial. Creamy yellow border surrounding an olive-green center give this foliage an edge above the rest. Foliage has a red tint in the spring. One of the most versatile perennials, 'Tequila Sunrise' is renowned for its beautiful and profuse flowering habit, which last throughout the summer. They are also desired because of their ability to thrive in less than ideal soil conditions. | | | Planting Info: Deadheading throughout the season after the first year will encourage the maximum amount of bloom from the plant. Coreopsis do well anywhere with a moderate amount of sun and a well-draining soil. In late August or early September, cut the flower stems down to the basal foliage, but leave the foliage intact. This encourages late season vegetative growth, which will prepare the plant for winter and produce numerous blooms the next year. | |
