Pulmonaria longifolia

'Cevennensis'

Common Name:
Lungwort
Bloom color:
Blue
Height:
15"
Bloom:
May-June
Hardiness:
Zone 4-8
Light:
Shade to part shade
Soil:
Rich, moist soil high in organic matter

Why you need this plant:        Narrow, dark green foliage with numerous white spots.  The lance shaped leaves can grow up to 24" or more in length and the wide, steel blue flowers contrast perfectly with the long foliage.  Long-blooming spring perennial that lends color and distinction to any shady area.

Planting Info:       Given a shady spot with adequate moisture, Pulmonaria will take care of themselves.  The old flower stems can be cut to foliar level to enhance appearance, otherwise plant requires little maintenance other than a good feeding in the early spring to stimulate floral growth.
