Why you need this plant:  Huge scented flowers good for rock gardens and for cutting.  Seed pods can be used in dried flower arrangements.      Nodding buds turn skyward upon opening.  Show stoppers when in bloom.  Go dormant after bloom cycle so you should plant other perennials nearby to fill in the gaps.  New growth reappears in early fall.  Deer and rabbit resistant.

 
Planting Info:       Poppies are fully frost hardy and prefer little or no shade and deep, moist, well-drained soil.  Self-seed readily.  Propagate cultivars by division in spring or fall.  For cut flowers, cut just when buds start to break and sear the ends to prevent sap leakage.
