Why you need this plant:        Fine strain of strong-growing lupins bears long spikes of large, strongly colored flowers in cream, pink, orange, blue or violet, some may be bi-colored.  Clumps of deeply divided, mid-green leaves.

Planting Info:       Most prefer climates with cool wet winters and long dry summers.  They should be planted in full sun, with well-drained, moderately fertile, slightly acidic, sandy soil.  They like plenty of water in the growing season and should be mulched in dry areas.  Spent flowers should be cut away to prolong plant life and prevent self seeding.  Propagate from cuttings or by division in early spring.  Watch for slugs and snails.
