Why you need this plant:        A shorter, more compact Knautia.  Ruby-red, scabiosa-like blooms float above widely-branched stems.  Long-flowering and very attractive to butterflies.

 
Planting Info:       Long flowering if consistently deadheaded.  As with Scabiosas, all need well-drained neutral to alkaline soil; add lime if the soil is acid.  Divide occasionally to encourage prolific flowering.
