| | Bloom: | July-Aug | | Hardiness: | Zone 5-10 | | Light: | Full Sun | | Soil: | Moist, humus rich soil | Why you need this plant: Luna series hibiscus are seed varieties with a more compact growth habit than the species. Deadheading is advisable to keep the plant appearance neat and to prolong bloom. Stems are strong and rarely need staking, they may also be left until spring when they need to be trimmed off to stimulate new growth. But take care not to disturb foliage underneath, Hibiscus are late to break dormancy in spring. They are heavy feeders so a good dose of fertilizer is needed in spring to kick start growth. | |
