Rich, moist soil... but tolerate dry once established

Why you need this plant:        Crimson flowers have a white corolla and yellow spurs.  Dark tinted leaves in spring and fall.  Semi-evergreen.  Long flower stems, with one or more leaves, bear many-flowered racemes of dainty 3/4-1" flowers.  Best as a specimen to show off the clouds of lovely flowers. 

 
Planting Info:        Keep moist until established.  Propagate by division before flowering time or after the foliage matures.  In late winter cut back the dead foliage to expose the new young growth.  Often recommended as a groundcover but crowding impairs flower production.  Planted on 15-18" centers, it blooms abundantly.
