Clematis

'Rubens'

Common Name:
Clematis
Bloom color:
Pink/Rose
Height:
12-20' vine, 2-3" flower
Bloom:
May-June
Hardiness:

Light:
Full Sun
Soil:
Rich, well-drained

Why you need this plant:        Masses of small pink to deep rose-pink flowers with bronze-purple foliage. Fragrant.

Planting Info:       Clematis are notoriously heavy feeders and require a rich, organic soil for robust growth.  Although slow to start, once established the Clematis will provide years of enjoyment and bloom.  Do not cut back in late fall as new growth will sprout from old wood in spring.  At Red Barn, our Clematis are two years old, grown at our nursery for hardiness, with a trellis included.
